From about June into September, a wall of dark cloud builds over the Gulf most afternoons, drops a warm, dramatic downpour, and clears off in an hour or two, often leaving the best light of the day behind it. In summer (roughly June through September) it rains most afternoons, but the storms are typically short and intense — a heavy hour, often with lightning and thunder, then clearing skies. Mornings are usually sunny, so plan beach time early and indoor plans for the afternoon. The rest of the year is mostly dry.
Is the Revs Institute open to the public?
Yes, but only on select days and by advance, timed reservation — you can't just walk up. It's a world-class collection of more than 100 historic cars near Airport-Pulling Road. Book tickets online ahead of time and confirm the current days and hours, which are limited.
